<p>the formerly table-based design has been updated to a full <acronym title="Cascading Style Sheet">CSS</acronym> driven layout, dramatically reducing the code and improving maintainability.</p>
<p>moreover, the design features a slightly whimsical transparency effect for users on non-<acronym title="Internet Explorer">IE</acronym> browsers.</p><p>tags: web</p></div>

Making it a bit more personal with his picture there on the side (as the site is just as much about him as it is about his ideas...both are inextricably linked, for some people).</p><p>Added a few minor accessibility nuggets for good measure (<abbr title="example given">e.g.</abbr> minimal accesskey definitions) and a superbly simple print style.</p><p>Interestingly enough, although I didn't win the contest — the main problem seems to be that I was unable to test in <acronym title="Internet Explorer">IE</acronym>/<abbr title="Macintosh">Mac</abbr> as I'm missing the latter part of that mix — this entry caused quite a bit of furore, with many vocal supporters ... amongst others, none other than Vincent Flanders of <cite>Webpages That Suck</cite> fame — although this time around, he was praising the design, rather than exposing its suckiness.</p><p>tags: web</p></div>

Over eight months in the making, the site has a fresh, new look and a revised structure, which has been streamlined to better serve the purpose of a central repository of information and entry point to the institution's various sub-sites.</p>
<p>Behind the scenes, the new web site takes advantage of the latest web standards and features a variety of accessibility enhancements.</p>

  Additionally, there is an <a href="http://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfile=http://www.splintered.co.uk/projects/archives/zengarden/door_to_my_garden/style.css">
advanced version</a> of this very same design, which takes advantage of 
  standards-compliant browsers' :hover support &amp;mdash and hence fails 
  miserably in some browsers, and didn't make it into the &quot;official&quot; list.
