bobby? bobbins!
description:
For many of those who only superficially know about accessibility, Watchfire Bobby is the tool of choice for checking a site's compliance with the WCAG and Section 508 guidelines.
In a tongue in cheek attempt to educate these lost souls, I implemented a simple conditional rewrite rule in my Apache configuration:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^(.*)Bobby(.*)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/accessibility(.*)
RewriteRule ^(.*) http://www.splintered.co.uk/accessibility/ [R=301]
Which, in human readable form, translates to: if the user agent requesting
a page contains the word "Bobby"
in its identification string,
redirect it to the page http://www.splintered.co.uk/accessibility/
(unless the current request is already for that particular page, as otherwise
this would result in an infinite redirect loop).
Try it for yourself...pay Bobby a visit and check any page on this site. Also notice the wonderful irony that my rant page passes the automated tests (and even the manual ones, if you bother doing those) for level AAA.
